toxisplosmosis

so yesterday i found 2 baby kittens outside maybe 3 weeks or so been kinda hearing them for a few days mother is mia so i mixed up a kitten formula have taken care of baby kittens b4 so i am wondering can i get toxisplosmosis that kitten disease that passes to a pregnant woman and her baby they are not old enough to use the litter box i have to syringe feed them and i have to use a warm rag to get them to do anything down there i am a very caring person but my baby comes 1st any response would be greatly appreciated because if i need to find them a new caregiver i need to get on it also the eat this baby kitten formula every 4 hrs or so and this is when i make then do there thing oh and to remind you all i am 22 weeks and 5 days pregnant

I agree with the above. Besides, if you take the necessary precautions such as, washing your hands, do not touch raw meat, or eat it but this one is kind of silly to suggest.

I think you are pretty safe, too.

Your MD is the best person to answer this question, but I will give you some information about toxo.

Cats are the definitive host of the parasite, Toxoplasma.   In general, they pick up this protozoan parasite from eating birds, insects, worms, and rodents.  The Toxoplasma organism is shed in the cat's feces and then requires another 24-48 hours to become "infective" to humans.  Most people who develop any sort of illness associated with Toxoplasma do so after eating undercooked meat.

Since the kittens are not eating solid food yet, the chances of them carrying and shedding Toxo are pretty low.  Still, use good common sense hygiene, wear gloves when stimulating them to defecate and dispose of the feces in the trash immediately.

You are probably at a higher risk of contracting Toxo through gardening than you are with kittens or a cat.

Double check with your MD, but I think you are pretty safe.
