Feline Luukemia ??

My neice and I found a kitten a year ago and when we found him he had matter in his eye's and had a cough and was also very under weight ! We took him to my mother because she has other cats outside and he took up really good with them so she keep him ! We named him Boots ! He never leaves the yard and eats alot dry cat food that my sister feeds him and all the others cats ! Boots has never really gained much weight and is really small compaired to the rest of the cats she has and he still has a cough ! Last week when I was at my Mom's house I noticed that Boot's hair on his back was thinning and was really easy to come out much worse than a sheading animal ! Could Boot's have Feline Leukemia ??

well its good the hair if coming back and the cough is gone....the sneezing and cough are all related...Upper Respiratory Infection or URI...ask your mom to PLEASE get kitty the supplement I mentioned before, this will help him fight off the attacks...without supplements they will keep returning and get worse..order from here, or get these at a good Health Food/Vitamin store...they are not expensive. $4.49.....and $4. shipping, just sprinkle a bit in his food...PLEASE.

also do some reading on other diseases that show up with a cough...

I would really like you to take this kitty to a Vet for a blood test to be sure and get a correct diagnosis...it can become really ill on you and not survive and for the safety of the other kitties as well....

good luck and keep us posted ok.

hi and welcome, it is more likely a virus...calicivirus with upper respiratory disease..does she have a congested nose too or weepy eyes? I will send you a link for more info on this condition...read and see if it fits for her.
if this is the case it will spread to all the others kitties too...

it weakens the immune system and thus she can than be susceptible to other conditions or allergies which is probably why she has thinning of her coat..would your mom consider changing the diet? what brand is she feeding?

the best thing you can do for her and the other kitties immune system if this is the calicivirus or herpes virus is give them L-lysine, its not expensive, its avail thru your Vet or you can buy online purer and cheaper...500mg per day mixed in can food is the best. I will give you a link to where I guy mine.
