I also had a teen mom here about 6 years ago :-)
And I can tell you, things where done completely in silence here.Everything: no heat signs before,no noise at the birth ...
Not even nipples growing :-)
I didnt have special proceeds during the pregnancy -just changed her food for one good for kittens ( they are better for pregnant cats)
Mine was small but mercifully all ended fine. She had 6 - 2girls and 4 boys.
Since your Gizmo has asthma, maybe vet should keep more atenttion on her, but normally cat are great moms and birth is natural.
Keep us up to date - we are always hungry to see baby kittens faces :-)
Hi BB,
You should work that out with your vet. He will tell you how often she needs to be seen before giving birth. Sure she is going to sleep a lot. Her babies are zapping her energy right now, but she will be fine once she has them for a few weeks.
I also think she can be spayed after she gives both, just keep her indoors and separated from your breeding males. DO NOT LRT HER GO OUTSIDE, K?
Luv to Gizmo.

How often should I take gizmo to the vet?
And also
Is it normal for her to be sleeping a lot
Absolutely the kittens need their mom, especially during the first weeks, they grow super-fast though! But she will still need some rest from giving birth and from nursing her kittens.
Oh I guess the “swelled nipples” is tried and true! But let’s wait and see.
Congratulation.
Thanks but I asked the vet that and he said no coz the kittens need to stay with the mum incase she needs to feed them and also gizmo ( the pregnant one ) has asthma so if she gets put under too much stress she can die but thanks for the advice
Dear Bombay, cats are the only animals that can get pregnant while nursing. The work I do is taking care of kittens while mom goes in to be fixed. Then when mom returns taking care of her & make sure the little ones don't get rough & hurt her or her stitches.
Here in the jungle of Costa Rica that's how it's done. Maxy
I was going to get her spayed from the start it is just the vet had no appointments for us so I could not get her spayed and now they have an appointment so it is booked to get her spayed
Thanks for letting us know and congratulations! Now you will be our expert on pregnant cats ! This will be a wonderful learning experience .
Please do keep us up to date about Mommy Gizmo!
I am happy you decided to have her spayed.
Good luck to you both

Hi I went to the vet and she was pregnant the vet said that there was about 3-4 kittens but he is not sure how many there are but he thinks about 3-4 once she had them I am going to get her spayed gizmo I now Resting in her bedroom with no noise I am going to the vet again in about a weak time to see if gizmo is doing well with the kittens i will update you as soon as possible
Ok thanks for the websites and the info I'm going to take her to the vet tomorrow to see if she is pregnant I'm hoping she is no thanks I'll update you on more info
Sometimes you can know how many kittens she’s going to have by looking how many of her nipples are swelled, but the most reliable way to know is getting an ultrasound at the vet, also a cat about a year old can usually have around 4 kittens.
Keep us posted.
Oh! Well if her nipples are getting a little darker and bigger. this is called "Pinking" and I would say if this is happening then you may well be right. Gizno is going to be a Teen Mom!
Congratulations to Giz and to you "grand mom".
Her is a website that may help you understand the next few months. It takes about 63 days and after the 4th month Gizmo should not be picked up, so as not to hurt the newborns.

...or just look up cat pregnancy on the internet--plenty of sites available.
Please keep us up to date with the little mom, K?
Good Luck

Thanks for the advice I am going to get gizmo to the vet on the 26th of this month so I'm hoping she is not pregnant and just to say I have 1 last question and that is her nipples are getting bigger but that is only 2-3 of them do they get bigger one by one or all together and what does it mean that she is going to have 2-3 kittens or does to mean nothing just to say I lied I said it was 1 question but it was 2 but thanks I'll update u on more info when I visit the vet
Hi BB,
Well BB I think you need to see the vet and ask him these questions. Taking care of a pregnant cat and birthing kittens is pretty tricky for someone who has no experience. So my suggestion would be to let your vet guide you in this matter---but if she is NOT pregnant please have her spayed now, before she does get pregnant.
It will be a lot easier for both of you if she does NOT have kittens. Unfortunately if she does have kittens then we have just added more kits to an already overcrowded population of cats.
If you keep them they will need to be spayed and neutered which can get costly for you.
If you keep them and do not get them fixed, well they are going to multiply , adding more as a problem.
If she is pregnant and you are going to keep the kittens, my suggestion would be to begin to find homes for them NOW, so you will not have so many to care for.
Let us know what the vet says, though. Maybe Gizmo is NOT pregnant---I am hoping she is not, and you can have her spayed.
All the Best to you and Gizmo

Hi I have got really important news
I am sure that gizmo is pregnant I am going to the vet to see what he says but thanks for the support do u know any websites that can give me more information on how to look after newborn kittens and how to deal with a pregnant cat thanks for helping me but u don't have to do t for me I have done so much for me thanks bless u and your family and pets and thank u
Thank you for everything everyone
Cats in season will stick their rear up in the air a lot, yowl, make loud "PRRT!" sounds constantly, especially if you touch them or they rub up against something. They might also smell a little bad too, around the rear end. There's no mistaking when a cat is in season in my experience, they are so obnoxious.
That said I've never had a pregnant cat, I have always had my cats fixed and I keep them indoors (wayyy too many dangers outside for my precious kitties) so I'm not sure what cat pregnancy symptoms are.
If she had been in season, you would almost certainly have noticed her yowling and calling, putting her bottom up in the air and her front shoulders down, and maybe even spraying. Unless you thought those were symptoms of something else (a friend of mine once thought her cat had broken her back when she was just in heat) you would have seen it.
HI BB,
I think if your Gizmo was pregnant the Vet would have noticed when you saw him for the Asthma diagnosis.
Now if you have not seen your vet in a while, it seems you have many questions, and this might be a good time to bring Gizmo in for a check-up.
......and Gizmo should be spayed so she does not have kittens, unless she is going to be a breeding Queen--the world has too many unwanted cats so we do not need Gizmo becoming a teen mom. Cats should be spayed around 6 months, that is when they usually will go into "season".
Good Luck ,BB, but get to the vet, K?
