Hi Fem,
The above posters are right! She /he needs to go to the vet immediately. You need to know what she may have so as not to spread it to your pup.
The doctor will guide you as to how to take it from there. She may still need a kitten formula of milk. I am sure she is starving but sardines for such a young baby is pretty tough on them.
Thank you for saving this little ones life. Wish more people were like you.
Also she may be in a too weakened state to get vaccinated right now. She needs to get her strength back and then go back for vaccinations.
Keep her isolated from pup until you see the Vet---Please. Please, let us know what happens with this little one, K?
Sincerely,
CML
Your kitty sounds like she has a case of worms. Take her to a vet, have a full work-up done. They can gender her for you as well. :)
the advice Jade has given is absolutely right, this kitten needs a dewormer from a Vet. you can take a piece of the stool sample into a clinic and they can have a look at it and determine what kind of worm/parasite she has and give you the proper medication. until than keep her separated from your puppy. And YES YES YES feed her canned cat food, not sardines...
Good on you for taking this baby in and caring for her!!!!!
Hi there...the bloated tummy is likely due to parasites/worms...and why he/she is not gaining weight. This kitten is in dire need of vet care. Most Definitely keep the kitten away from your puppy until it gets treated and vaccinated. Please don't attempt to treat with over the counter meds either. There are several different kinds of worms; you want a proper diagnosis which only a vet can perform. Meanwhile, please buy some kitten food. WET, not dry. I assume you are feeding more than sardines, but if that's all, that is not nearly enough.
Keep us updated, and let us know what more we can do to help. Bless you for taking this little one in.
