Hi All, in order to post a Prayer Thread for you, please post your date here on this thread so we know u would like one.

Know/No it does not need to be surgery for Chiari, it can be for  anything.....and know we will keep u in our thoughts and prayers.

We also have tips for the hospital stay in the health pages....so do look there for helpful info.

Hi, I'm new to the community. I was diagnosed with Arnold Chiari malformation Type 1 on Dec. 29, 2015. On Jan. 25, 2016, I found out I had a large syrinx. By Gods grace, I don't have many symptoms- I get horrible headaches and my left arm goes numb from time to time. My cousin, who is a neurologist, said that looking at my MRI and seeing me in person, it's like two different people. So after, three different opnions, I am having decompression surgery, on Feb. 18th, 2016. I'm nervous, I've never had surgery before. All prayers welcomed. Thank you for listening.

Many prayer's sent for you now , during & after your surgery. Keep focusing on the "this time next week" you'll have the surgery at least behind you ....this time next week, you'll be further away from the surgery than you are closer to it right now! This WILL be a positive thing & our thoughts & prayers are with you!!!

A prayer thread will be posted for you....May I ask how you came to have testing if you didn't have many symptoms?

And did they rule out ALL related conditions?

I have already had decompression  surgery for my Chiari Nov. 3, 2014 After many returning problems, I am now having an occipital-cervical fusion and odontoid resection on March16th.

My Chiari surgery was just done March 30th 2016, very complicated for me . Besides the decompression craniectomy, I also had the duraplasty with graft and lamenectomy of C1 spine. Just was released from the hospital yesterday's. Still having very bad pressure headaches and have yet to find pain meds that work for me. Big prayers to everyone that is heading into surgery and to everyone that is recovering and I wish you all the best!
