Update

So I'm 1 day post-op and the pain is bad at times, but not unbearable. The nurses I have had so far have been awesome with keeping up with my pain meds. I did actually get out of the bed today. My nurse, my mama, & I walked in a circle around the unit. My legs were really wobbly but other than that & a little lightheadedness, I did pretty good. The physical therapist came in and said he doesn't think I'm going to need it because I'm already doing so well! Still in ICU and will be for one more night if they can't find a bed for me. Baby steps!

U may want to get a wedge pillow.... a wedge may help u be on an incline that may help as u heal to help prevent that pressure build up....

They wake u in the hospital to take meds bcuz u need to stay ahead of the pain....if u wait till u have pain it is possible the meds will not work as effectively.....

I do not have a recliner so my only option is my bed or the couch. I may try propping myself up some tonight though. And thanks for the idea about setting an alarm to take my meds! I hadn't even thought of that!

Wow you are doing so good. I was in hospital way longer even though I was up and walking my 3rd day. Keep it up.

So glad to hear u r home, I remember my first night home....I did not attempt to sleep laying flat as I was not flat in a hospital bed, and it could be y u felt that pressure.....if u have a recliner  u may want to try that ....it worked great for me.....

Also, if u r on a med schedule do set an alarm to wake during the night to take them as u have to stay ahead of pain for the meds to work the best for u.

Rest, rest, rest....

I came home from the hospital yesterday and it felt great to sleep in my own bed last night! I did wake up this morning with a really bad pressure headache & couldn't move my neck at all but the meds are kicking in now it's getting a little better. Thank you everyone for your prayers!

Wow!  Praise GOD for your recovery. It's good to hear that you are doing well.  But I hear the community saying that rest, rest, and more rest is important.  Take care and thanks for the updates.

You're welcome! After being up walking around and getting a shower, now my pain level is back at 10. I have been crying with a headache. The Dr came in and ordered more medicine. We will see if this helps. We are definitely here for another night. Keep praying please!

So I was moved out of ICU and into a regular room last night. I am in the Duke North Building, room 4129 for everyone that has been asking. They were a little concerned with how swollen my incision was last night & that it was leaking so they put a bandage over it & mentioned that they may need to put in a drainage tube. Well they checked it this morning & the swelling has gone down! Yay! They don't have to put in a draining tube & they said they want me to get up & walk around some today. They said I should go home sometime tomorrow, or maybe tonight (if we can get my pain under control).
