Kidney Disease and Bloody Mucous filled Diarrhea - metallic smell

We have been dealing with CRF with my 13 year old pug for the last year.  I really haven't done much in regards to his diet except giving him a product called Kidney Support Gold, added some tripe and yogurt to his kibble and I was feeding a little raw but stopped that about a week ago as he was refusing to eat it.  As I have often read and as is the case here, it has been a constant roller coaster ride.  To add to matters he also lost the use of his back legs 5 years ago so we physically empty his bladder for him through out the day.  My concern as of tonight is the sudden onset of mucousy diarrhea.  It has bits of blood in it and a metallic smell (likely related to the blood).  Has anyone dealt with something like this related to CRF before?  He has had a bit of this in the past but nothing like the amount i've been dealing with today :(

Hi. I am really unsure what the "metallic" smell might be, although the rest of the symptoms sound to me like your dog has an infection. You should get him to see a vet straight away, and while you are waiting, please keep up the fluid intake. I am also concerned you have not altered the diet significantly over the last year - and you are feeding kibble, which is the worst food you can give a dog with kidney disease.

When were blood tests last undertaken and what were the results of those tests? Has your dog had a urinalysis undertaken? Has your vet performed a blood pressure check? When you say you are giving tripe and yoghurt - what kind of tripe are you feeding and what kind of yoghurt?
