Chinese Firm Plans $1.3 Billion Purchase Of Texas Oil Lands

http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2015/10/25/451675784/chinese-firm-plans-1-3-billion-purchase-of-texas-oil-lands

"A Chinese investment holding company intends to put down stakes in the United States after signing a letter of intent to purchase oil properties in western Texas for $1.3 billion through a limited liability partnership.

The Shanghai-listed Yantai Xinchao Industry Co., said in a securities filing over the weekend, it was a purchasing oil lands in the Texas counties of Howard and Borden as part of the proposed acquisition of Ningbo Dingliang Huitong Equity Investment Center, according to the Associated Press.

The news service also reports Yantai Xinchao said in its letter of intent, the transaction, worth 8.3 billion yuan, has been "approved by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States" which is part of the Treasury Department.

The oil properties are being purchased from Tall City Exploration LLC and Plymouth Petroleum LLC, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Neither Tall City Exploration or ArcLight Capital Partners LLC, the parent company of Plymouth Petroleum, returned requests for comment by the time of this posting. We will update if things change.

The Wall Street Journal also reports Chinese energy companies have been longing to do business in the U.S. because of "stable laws governing oil exploration and production." The publication adds:

"But U.S. restrictions on Chinese investment in potentially sensitive areas means investment in the U.S. energy patch by Chinese companies is, to date, limited. Yantai Xinchao said it had already received permission from the U.S. government for the deal.
...
"Chinese companies are looking abroad for oil deals partly because of tight restrictions at home, making investment in oil-and-gas exploration and production next to impossible in many cases. State-owned oil behemoths dominate China's energy landscape, leaving little space for independent companies to invest. China's government says it aims to bring more private capital into the oil sector as part of ongoing reforms."

Please comment to the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page, in order to make sure MH gets the opinions of everyone using the new format...

I'm in total agreement with you and there is absolutely nothing I can do about any of it, except put in my comments, just as I'm asking you to do, which I've already done...

Without our comments, MH will not know the gravity of the changes they've made... whether they care or not, is another issue - all I can do is ask you to let them know.  Or should I say "beg" you?  :-)

As in the past Barb, I doubt comments will make any difference at all to MH. I probably cast my vote with my feet.

Well, I certainly don't like the format, from the script to the width of the posts.(it's like a newspaper)
I prefer to peruse who has posted to a particular thread to see if I'm interesting in reading the comments or how much "action" it has.
Many sites I visit have a mobile device mirror page, a much better way of handling the mobile vs pc issue imo.

I can imagine that you're being urged to have patience.....because from my perspective and a lot of those I've read here this change does not appear to very popular.

The recent change is very user unfriendly from any device... I'm a Community Leader of a couple of communities, and we're all being urged to have patience...

We're also being told to contact MedHelp via the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of every page to let MH know what is thought of the new format.  I know some are reluctant to contact MH, but if you only post your complaints here or in another community or group forum, MH will not realize the full extent of the dissatisfaction - you "must" send your complaints to them in order to be heard...

When you write to them, make a list of your complaints, so they understand exactly what it is, you don't like about the new format...

I haven't seen anyone who like this most recent change. It is very user unfriendly from a desktop.

The "horrible beta format" is not a beta format... MedHelp is changing their format to look more like FaceBook and other social media, as they try to make it compatible with mobile devices - supposedly, this is what people want.  The roll out is not complete and we're asked to be patient as changes are being made and the roll out reaches 100%...

You may be able to return to the old format by logging out of MH, closing your browser, then logging back in... it's quite random, so you may have to try repeatedly, being sure to close your browser each time you try. Once you get back to the old format, do NOT log out, as you may not get back to it again...

"Duke Energy to Acquire Piedmont Natural Gas for $4.9 Billion In Cash"

Duke Energy Inc. agreed to acquire Piedmont Natural Gas Co. for $4.9 billion in cash, adding a distribution company to the energy producer’s organization.
Piedmont shareholders will receive $60 in cash for each share of Piedmont common stock, about a 40 percent premium to the Oct. 23, closing price, the companies said Monday in a statement. Duke will assume about $1.8 billion in Piedmont’s net debt, representing an enterprise value of about $6.7 billion.
Piedmont distributes and sells natural gas North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, and through subsidiaries markets gas in Georgia. The Charlotte, North Carolina-based company also distributes propane in several states.
Piedmont will retain its name and operate as a unit of Duke Energy. Duke will add one member of Piedmont’s board of directors to its board after the transaction is closed.
Completion of the transaction is conditioned upon approval by the North Carolina Utilities Commission, expiration or termination of any applicable waiting period under the federal Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, and Piedmont shareholder approval. The companies are targeting a closing by the end of 2016.
“We look forward to welcoming Piedmont’s employees and one million customers in the Carolinas and Tennessee to Duke Energy,” Lynn Good, chief executive officer of Charlotte-based Duke, said in the statement. “This combination provides us with a growing natural gas platform, benefiting our customers, communities and investors.”
