Lt. Col. refusing deployment.....

So still watching Anderson Cooper.  He interviewed a Lt. Col. (a Dr. actually) in the US military who is refusing deployment (to Afganistan I believe) based on the fact that he doesn't believe Pres. Obama was born in American, therefor is not eligible to be Pres. so he doesn't actually have to take orders from him.  The Lt. Col. didn't actually do much talking, his lawyer did (he is being courtmartialed) and it all seemed fairly ridiculous.  Anderson Cooper had a copy of the Certificate of Live Birth for Pres. Obama issued by the state of Hawaii.  Defense funds are being raised by a group called the American Patriots.  Are we seriously still debating this issue?  The man is the President of the US.  Surely someone higher up the food chain then this Lt. Col would have ensured the man was born in the US.  I mean, come on, seriously?

There is no problem other than what some want to make of it. But with this group nothing is going to satisfy them anyway, even the pres said that. So too bad too sad. He is a pig, a traitor and a coward. Shame on HIM!

I saw his interview, he appeared on the Anderson Cooper show.  Mind you, his lawyer did most of the speaking and I don't think his lawyer is doing him any favors by doing so.  Basically, what they said was that the birth certificate wasn't good enough and he still wasn't convinced Pres. Obama was born in the US.  The problem with this is that you cannot just have soldiers in any military suddenly deciding not to serve, or choosing where they will or will not know.  They know that (or should) when they enlist.  It doesn't matter if they like the leader at the time or not. If you agree to serve your country in this manner, you have to do what the military tells you. Its the same in any country, except in countries like US and Canada, you have a choice as to whether or not to join.  In many countries, you aren't given that option.  If you suddenly had members of the military making decisions like that, you would have absolute chaos.  There were soldiers refusing to redeploy to Iraq because they didn't believe the Iraqi war was justified.  I personally happen to agree with the war not being justified, but I still would not defend the actions of those soldiers.  Really, this is desertion in a sense.  And this would have been his second time to Afganistan.  I got the impression from watching them that this was all about media attention.  They showed the birth certificate on the program during the interview.  I don't understand the problem.

Of course it is possible he served his country in Iraq and Afghanistan in fact he must have done so to call him those words seems extremely harsh..how can we judge what would drive someone to go this far maybe he was at the end of his tether.I am surpised at the venom I see in the words on this thread , have we all heard the testimony ,no I doubt and we all watch differant news , we know how the madia is biased one way or another .This could have been a soldier we were feting as he returned from Iraq and had fought for this country ..how times are changing , now because he has a differance of opinion from what we think he should be and he chooses to use the 1st Amendment .Shame on you ...
