You really don't hear about a lot of women doing this sort of thing, although we've all seen (and even posted here) about it happening.

Do you think it's because men are just a bit more genetically predispositioned towards human-sexuality and women are more maternal in nature (in general), or is there something more sinister & evil at work?

Guys, and I know that a lot of you feel very strongly AGAINST what I'm about to say... but more & more, I'm starting to think that people like these guys (the ones in the video) are mentally handicapped in some way. Surely it MUST be a mental disorder.

"Normal" people do not think that sex with a minor, beastiality in any form (with a minor or otherwise), taking pictures and video's of a minor, is a socially acceptable thing to do.

They all KNOW it's wrong, yet they do it anyway. I'm seriously leaning more and more towards the mental disease rational.

I'm going to say it BBXX... "They can't help it" because they're mentally disturbed, disabled, handicapped, diseased and wired wrong. In my opinion, recently developed mind you, it'd be like asking a diabetic to just STOP being a diabetic. They can't, because they have an illness. Like asking an alcoholic to stop drinking. They can't just WILL themselves to stop. They need help, treatment, "medicine", etc.

Am I off base here, or do you guys feel the same way?

I agree Narla. I have said this before, but I know for certain that if someone touched my child I could hurt them badly. And I am extremely non violent in nature, but it wouldn't even phase me.  Innocent children stuck with a life sentence because of that sort of abuse...it's just so wrong.

In the US are they not able to warn people if a sex offender moves into your area?  Here they can't really do that unless it's a repeat offender deemed at high likelyhood to offend again.  But other then that, their privacy is protected.  Twisted thinking huh.

Forget jail and rehab,because history shows that they will reoffend,we have paedophiles here that have served their time and they keep reoffending,so what have we done,we have built houses inside the jail walls to keep them out of the general population,we also have a law now that if they reoffend they can be held after their sentence is finished.It is only in the state of Queensland though as far as I know.
For me put them all on an island and blow it up,much cheaper than housing them.

Oh I despise them as well.  And like I said...strike one, your out.  No opportunity to offend again.  We cannot put kids at risk by giving them second chances, regardless of the reason behind the actions.

Well here is my weakness. I would line em up and shoot em and hang em upside down in the streets with it in their mouth. I personally would not waste one cent studying them or giving them an excuse. As a mother imo, the young and innocent come first. Im sorry! I know how awful that sounds I really do, but this is one subject I think gets 0 tolerence. And my way would either cure em or put em back in the closet. I think we live in a time when everyone is blaming their actions on mental illness or born that way and you know what? Sorry bout your luck, touch a child and you die a horrible death for all to witness. That is just pure evil to me and needs handled harshly or we have another group with another excuse and more studies and more sympathy and, no no no. Sorry. My emotions wont let me even entertain the thought. And it is very true that the problem might be with me for feeling that way but I wont take it back. I 100% agree they know it is wrong.  In fact, the legal definition for "Not guilty for reason of insanity" is that someone does not know right from wrong.  That's why these guys convicted go to regular prisons, not hospitals.  I absolutely believe they know it.  Where the mental defect comes in is that normal men are not attracted to children that way.  Normal men do not rape women or go after kids.  So there has to be something wrong with the wiring. I think we are mixing up compulsion or sexual deviation with knowing it's wrong.  But that is why they cannot be rehabilitated, and yes, I also agree, no opportunity to do it again.  But I think science has confirmed something is wrong in their make up.  Not an excuse, but knowing this may help at some point.  I mean, what do we all want...for this sort of thing not to happen at all right?  Maybe someday they will be able to prevent it through this knowledge. Hard to believe, but anything is possible.

I tried to click on this link but I didn't just like I didn't when I read it. Well here goes my 2 cents......I'm sorry but I just don't buy it!! If they are "mentally handicapped" why would they know it's wrong but still do it anyway? These guys and all the other predators of minors in the world know what the hell they are doing..Let me ask you this, why do they prey on minors? Because they are easy prey, easily intimidated, easily silenced. They study their victims, watch their every move. They do their homework. They make sure that girl or boy is alone and in an area where no one would notice. These rings and the individuals are well thought out. I read one of them was a teacher. You mean to tell me he was mentally handicapped but he can have a career as a teacher? NOPE still don't buy it. Someone/Some people with a mental disability would not be that thorough. I have a 5 yr old lil boy and I couldn't imagine him being in the hands of one of these monsters..It causes me to be VERY protective and yeah maybe a lil paranoid. It has forced me have to be REAL in my conversations with my son. He knows if he's EVER in a situation where someone is trying to lure him or someone is "playing with him" and wants to "touch him" and have him "touch them", (no matter what their age is or if they're girl, boy, woman or man) to run as fast as he can home or to the nearest business and scream like bloody hell and continue to scream until someone tries to help him. It is so SAD that we live in a world where I feel once my son is at an age where I have no choice but to let him go out into the world I have to make sure he has a mace spray and to instill (and PRAY that he actually understands the gravity of it) in him that he can't underestimate what ANYONE is capable of doing to him. Some of you may say oh this girl is going overboard and she's nuts. Honestly, that is how I feel. I'm scared for him because these Pervs ARE OUT THERE. More will come and it seems like the predators themselves come younger nowadays. I feel it is my duty as a parent to make sure he understands that. I remember my mom being the same way. It made me more conscious of where I would and would not go. I was always keeping an eye out if I was by myself walking or something. My senses were heightened. I have to go to that extent in my opinion, to make sure my 5 yr old KNOWS that anything can happen now and while he's growing up. I hope these guys ROT in jail forever. A conviction of Kidnapping, Child rape, Molestation should be automatic life in prison with NO parole in my opinion. I would GLADLY pay extra taxes for that (middle/poor class and all..lol ) NO 2nd chances. If they are brave enough to do it once, then they are brave enough to sit in jail for the rest of their lives so they won't be able to do it EVER again.....

I have to disagree with you here.  The studies are not done to excuse the behaviour, but rather to find out what it is that makes these guys tick.  Perhaps if we know more about the triggers, warning signs and patterns, more can be done to prevent it.  Or perhaps not.  But it is never bad to excuse deviant behaviour.  I too believe it is an illness or a compulsion..whichever you like.  That does not mean I think it's ok.  These guys do need to be removed from society and not given second chances to offend.

Well,  what is cruel and unusual punishment, is for a grown man to abuse the body of another human being in such sick and twisted ways.

I don’t care how many (studies) have been done to prove they cant help it. In my opinion most of the studies are nothing more than mis-led people finding ways to excuse the rotten behavior of others.
I saw somewhere there is a professor that is convinced if child porn is legal, then there will be less attacks against children. Isnt that logical, if you cant stop a crime, legalize it. Tell that to the kids they are allowing to be victimized in the videos.

Make the initial punishments for various crimes MUCH more severe and lasting (as mentioned above), and you're almost guaranteed to NOT see repeat offenders. I mean, how do you rape and pedo without a 'member', right? I don't mean for that to sound funny, by the way.

I'm being completely serious.

Now, that being said, I think the Constitution of the United States might have something to say about it being "cruel & unusual" punishment, but I say, "Let the punishment fit the crime".

If a Pediatrician in a small town can rape & pedo his way through 100+ children over the course of 30 years, I say the punishment of cutting off his hands & his 'member' are WELL within the confines of not-cruel or unusual.

Then again, I'm a very "eye for an eye" type of person, and a HUGE advocate of capital punishment.

Death is too easy a punishment for some people/crimes... "General Population" in a maximum security prison, and let them get a taste of their own medicine.

If the law said rape once and the penalty was what I suggested the other day, then It would be a much bigger challenge to do it again.

People are watching trash and they are exposing themselves to trash. Sex has become so twisted and sick, and violent and people are experimenting in all kinds of ways that should never be. I dare not go to your link as I don't like detail of child/animal abuse but reading the details you gave I would say yes that it is indeed a mental illness.if as you say 'they cant help it then they should be removed from society,  where I live in CA this mad state has seen fit to release 35,000 prisoners..a lot of whom are abusers and predators  my guess is it wont be long before we have a lot of the same ...sick and dangerous ..my opinion ...lock em up .....
