There are quite a lot of smokeless tobacco users. The carcinogens play a bigger role than the direct application of tobacco. especially when that tobacco is smoked you are changing its chemical compounds making it even more carcinogenic. More carcinogens the more chance of cancer. Look at the sweedish. They have the lowest cancer statistics. why? no one smokes they all use snus, which is a oral tobacco product with super low TSNA's (the cancer causing agents in tobacco). Its basically dip with low carcinogens. If direct application had more to do with it than snus would be more dangerous than cigarettes which it has been proven to be a MUCH safer product, but like all tobacco nothing is safe.
yes but from what i have read the higher percentage of cancer in cigarette smokers is due primarily to there being so many more of them than dippers. there may be more carcinogens in cigs but the direct application to the mouth and gums with smokeless is more harmful than smoking.
Actually 92% or oral cancer cases are from smoking. You have a higher chance to getting cancer from smoking than you do from smokeless tobacco. Cigarette smoke contains 60 carcinogens while smokeless tobacco contains 28. Smokeless tobacco is BY NO MEANS safe, and the risk of oral cancer DOES exist, but it is LESS than smoking.
oral cancer is the first thing that pops to mind. the odds of getting oral cancer is much higher with dip than smoking. it also can cause gum disease. this can be painful and cause his teeth to fall out. cosmetically his tooth enamel can turn brown and dip promotes bad breath. so first he will be unattractive and smelly then he could become toothless and cancer ridden.
