I first got PR when I was 14 yrs. old. I was given some cream which when applied it will disappear however once the cream wear off then they show up again.
The second time I got it I was 19 yrs old. This time much larger same problem.
I recently notice a few small circles, then a few days later now I have about 40 mostly chest and next area.
I am now 45 I thought I was done with this but I guess not.
Stay out of the sun as much as possible it really only spreads them. They are not contagious, just look like they are.
I was diagnosed a week ago with pityriasis rosea. I had not heard of this before and I am completely broken out on my arms, back, chest and neck. We found the "herald spot" but there are also two much darker red spots that have developed on my back. They look mostly like the others but they are definately darker and so, I am just wondering if that is normal?
Thanks. Mine started maybe mid February and it ended about 3rd week of June. The herald patch was there for a long time with a few small ones. Mine didn't really get real bad that is about 100s of them covering my buttocks lower stomach area and hips until about the 3rd month which is odd as it should have been at its full flare much earlier than that. It is odd however with yours that you have it mostly on your feet. I thought it is usually from neck to knees. I'm sorry about your PR and the other skin conditions you've had. I truly don't mind PR as long as that is all it is and it isn't something serious. How did they do a biopsy? The dermatologist looked at mine once and said it is PR, saw the herald patch (mother patch). He wanted to see me tomorrow before the long weekend. The nurse called me today and said he wants to make sure that is what it is especially when the recurrence is so rare. Thank you for your response, I appreciate it. Best Regards.
Sorry to here about your bout of Pityriasis Rosea. I am going through the same thing right now. Just got the diagnosis yesterday after a month of creams and 2 biopsies. From what I understand, most people only get Pityriasis Rosea once in theie lifetime, but other than the fact that it is not life threatening and will eventually go away, there's not a whole lot of answers out there. To your other question, I can't imagine skin cancer taking years to diagnose. I've had many squammous cells and 1 melanoma removed in the last few years. If you're really worried, have a dermatologist biopsy one of the red bumps just to check, but i've never heard of skin cancer looking like red bumps all over your body. Was wondering how long from your first bump until it eventually cleared the first time was? I'm going on about 8 weeks, the first dermatologist told me about 8 weeks, but it isn't showing any sign of giving up yet, luckily the worst of mine is on my feet and but that stay covered most of the time. :)
