Cold Sore concern.

I never experienced any cold sores so far. All of a sudden last two days, I am experiencing dry lips mildly chapped. I know I spent significant time in the open air that could possibly be a culprit. I started applying burt bees ( 3 applications so far). The dryness is not completely going away. The lips are also becoming sticky after applying burt-bees. I am concerned if it could be a precondition for cold sore. Should I apply more burt bees (beewax natural lip balm) or would that make it worse. Anyone knows if it is certainly a cold sore? I am much worried. Please h

Matt

The cold sore of herpes type 1 virus is typical in a sense that it is multiple, vesicular(Blisters) with a prodromal pain. You do not have these features.

Recurrences are the typical feature.

Quit worrying because many get the type 1 in childhood and might remain without clinical manifestations.
Do consult your doc should the chelitis disturb you.
