Thanks for the options, unfortunately the first doctor at the clinic said it was a fungal infection (well she didn't know, she had to go ask the ER doc, who diagnosed it without even looking at me) and gave me some cream. After trying it out for a week, it didn't do anything. I had to go through several bottles of it, given the amount of spreading. It actually almost seemed to make the rash worse.
Unfortunately I can't afford to spend hundreds more to see another specialist, since currently I have no insurance and had to bury my infant son last week. All of my money went into that, that's why I searched the internet for forums where I could post my problem.
I did take pictures of the rash in various (appropriate) places, but I can't figure out how to post them on here. Maybe with seeing it you might be able to give me a better idea.
Hello,
Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough, but it can be fungal infections, nummular eczema or pityriasis rosea.
Most cases of fungal infections respond to over-the-counter products, which contain any of several basic ingredients: miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. Some of them are Lamisil, Monistat derm, Mycelex, and Nizoral. You should also maintain hygiene and try to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics.
If the symptoms persist then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. If it is pityriasis rosea then no specific treat, emt is required.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
almost everything I've come across tells me that it's this rosea thing, except for the "christmas tree" patten on my back. I see nothing like that, anywhere.
I can't afford to spend hundreds of dollars, taking another chance on some other doctor telling me that he has no clue.
I have the pics uploaded on photobucket, but can't figure out which links would work here. I'll bookmark this and check back tomorrow.
I can't figure out how to edit my original post....the pics didn't show up....
