Procardia XL Stoppage

The Dermatologist that I am going to said they believe that my Procardia XL med. is the trigger for my Rosacea.  My doctor stopped my usage and increased my low presser meds.  Is there any danger of suddenly stopping the procardia?

Went to see my regular doctors, blood pressure has gone up with the sudden stoppage of procardia.  The doctors have increased my metroplol from 100 MG a day to 300 MG a day.  I am not a doctor but I think they should have prescribed a lower dose of procardia of 50 MG, I was on 90 MG.  But the procardia is causing me to get extremely red faced.  It has gotten worse as time has gone on.  I hope that what they are telling me to do is the right course of action.  Blood pressure has come down some, yesterday in AM when I went to the doctors it was 180/96 by afternoon it was 146/84.  This morning it was 150/93.  Expressed my concerns to them about stopping me suddenly on the procardia but the doctors feel that this is the right course of action.  I am concerned though and have expressed that to them.

Hi,
Nifedipine (brand name Procardia) is a  calcium channel blocker. Its main uses are as an antianginal and antihypertensive.
You will have to report to your physician about having stopped the usage and ask for a suitable substitute.
It is taken to lower blood pressure and abruptly stopping it can cause it to go up.
