rice pack burn

My 14 year old daughter had H pylori and Gastritis.  She used a heated rice pack on her stomach.  She has been left with a dark blood vessel pattern on her stomach.  Is this a burn and if so, how do we treat it.  How long will it last and will self tanners help?
Thank you, Anne

Hi,
The primary care physician as well as two neurologists have seen her stomach.  My daughter just happened to be at the Neurologist office and mentioned her stomach.  The Dr. was surprised but had no idea.  The Neurologist at the Hospital where my daughter was admitted for migraines had no idea, but had asked to see it.  Apparently it is a curiosity.  I took her to her primary care Dr. for a follow up on her hospital visit, she thought it was interesting as well.  She did order a blood test to check her Cortisol level.  Other than that she felt that if it is a burn, she just has to wait for it to fade.  Our regular Dermatologist office is booked out for a couple months.  We thought about using self tanners to hide it.  I am concerned by the fact that I haven't seen anyone else post with this problem and I haven't found any conditions on the internet that are similar.  I appreciate any information that can shed some light on this, so thank you.  Anne

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi

This may be a burn. I suggest that you have this assessed by your primary physician. You may need to apply topical antibiotics over the area or silver sulfadiazine cream which may help for minor burns. Avoid touching the area .Is this red, painful? Are there any scalded skin?
