Thanks. I thought it might be this. In a different light, it actually looked like bruising/burnt skin in a circular area as well. It is very strange how skin looks different under artificial light.
Maybe there is also an element of chemical burn from the Dettol. I have now learnt that neat Dettol on skin is a no-no and will probably give compressing a miss as well.
I have restarted using Dermol 500 as a skin wash, but can't really stand creams on my face, so this is a problem in relation to sunblock. Are there any light ones that you can recommend that don't block the pores and therefore heat up the skin?
Hello,
Dermol 500 contains four main ingredients: liquid paraffin, isopropyl myristate, benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine hydrochloride. Liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate have moisturising properties and Benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine hydrochloride have antiseptic properties that help to destroy bacteria on the surface of the skin.
You can use a mild moisturizer which is non allergic, non perfumed and light like Aveeno lotion or Cetaphil moisturizing lotion.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Thanks - I will look into these.
Dermol is probably the best product I have used. My skin problems started after I stopped using it, so I recommend it highly.
Use melacare cream on old scars of burning from dettol but it is very risky. before apply read about applying method. I use this cream that works very well.
Some years ago my body n face is burn from dettol after advice from doctor I use Azac soap and clin3 soap, eukroma cream for skin lightening and alovera cream as a facial it works very well.. my advice is to use clin 3 soap and apply eukroma cream on bed time in night and also in morning.. and you can also use alovera facewash.
Thanks a lot for the feedback! I'll investigate your suggestions. This was some time ago I almost forgot about it... Dettol is lethal...
I now wash only with water and very occasionally use a muslin face cloth. I was looking at a solution from the inside and tried aloe vera juice and a few other things. I guess my theory is that the skin repairs itself from the inside and I have seen new skin grow in that area year after year so the skin seems to have some sort of understanding of where it should grow.
I guess supplementing with vitamins once or twice a week would help as well as possibly some Omega or CoQ10. Diet can't be discounted at all and I was told to avoid fatty foods such as cheese and chocolate.
Actually I have a few skin tags now so this may have been a consequence of too many supplements at one point? I guess a nutritional expert would know more about this than me and maybe the nutritional aspect of healing shouldn't be ignored as well.
Did your scar healed ....i also burnt my face 3 weeks ago it healed but now i am getting light brown spot on that area ....I am using aloevera and skinlite cream but no result pls help
I burnt my face 2 weeks ago but left with a black scar. Appreciate your suggestion ? thanks
Hello,
You are right because it sounds like post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Without treatment, this usually takes about 6 months to resolve and for the skin color to go back to its normal color. Topical treatments with acids and chemical peels can be effective but can take a while for the skin to totally revert to its normal color. Microdermabrasion can also be done, but this might require several sessions. Skin resurfacing using lasers is also an option.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
