My wife has a very large skin tag on the back of her lag. It's been there for years (she never had any form of medical insurance to get it looked at), and now looks like it's... rotting? Or something?
It's leaking discharge all over the place, it's turning black, it smells terrible, is very painful and there are literally holes in it that you can see blackness inside.
We took her to the ER a few weeks ago and the doctor just said it was acrochordon and to follow up with a dermatologist for removal. He seemed convinced that it wasn't infected, and I obviously don't feel qualified to argue with a medical professional lol. But it really looks, smells, and -feels- terrible.
The dermatologist he referred us to has no openings until March. My wife is terrified to leave the house because of the smell and she always has this wet spot on the back of her leg where it's pouring puss or discharge or whatever all over the place. I'm no professional, of course, but I really feel like it's... starting to necrotize or something. I'm really not sure what I'm trying to ask, but we really need help. I have no idea what we can do, and I'm not sure how well she can deal with this for another four months when this month alone has been hell on her.
Is there anything we can do? Thank you.
