Yellow wound?

I got a cut and its starting to scab. The more shallow area of the wound is pinkish/red but in the middle towards the deeper part it is yellow. It's not puss, as the entire wound already has hard scabbing tissue over it and there are no liquids coming from it. There are no signs of infection (excessive pain, foul odor, puss, or hottness around the wound) I am just concerned about the yellow color. What could this be? Is it a sign of infection?

Usually that would indicate an infection, however if there are no accompanying symptoms (swelling, discharge, odour, etc) then it could be minor enough that the body's white cells are healing it. I would still recommend putting a bandage and a medicated ointment on it however - if there is any infection in the wound, it will be obvious on the worn bandage's cotton gauze pad (ie. yellowing on the pad). The pad and ointment should effectively draw any infection out of the wound.
