differin

Dear doctor! How long can I use Differin (adaferin, adapalene)? I've been told to use it permanently, but I'm afraid of any negative consequences for my still young skin as it is a medication finally
Thank you so much

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,

Differin or adapelene is used for acne vulgaris. Clean your skin with a mild cleanser (not soap) before applying the medication. Pat the skin dry with a clean towel and Apply the medication in a thin layer to the entire face or other affected skin areas. Do not apply any other skin products unless your doctor has told you to. Avoid application to the areas of skin around eyes, lips and mucous membranes.

You do not have to use it lifelong as when the acne get treated you can get it examined from your dermatologist and stop using this medicine.

I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep us posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.

Im not a doctor, however i have taken Differin and i would advise taking it constantly until the prescription runs out. Once it runs out, assess your skin- do you really need to keep taking it?? If this answer is a yes, refill the prescription and keep taking the Differin(In relation to taking it "permanently", i recommend doing this self- assessment everytime you fill the prescription, no matter how long you have been using it). If you think no, then try just using the cream without the antiobiotics. If you are seeing your skin remain clear with just the cream, continue using that. Then you dont have to worry about taking the pills aswell. I think there would be no negative long term effects on your young skin- just remember Differen dries out the skin so keep it moisturised, and always wear sunscreen to keep skin looking young.
