face rash, etc..

2 years ago I used some abrasive pads from oil olay and also a make up to remove the oil from your skin after using the make up for 3 days and the pads a few times, I developed a huge rash on my face with something that looks like pimples.  For the first time in my life after 32 years of age I had to visit a dermatologist and they gave me oral cortisone and also pandel cream for my face.  It didnt't itch but it burns after those treatments everything would still come back.  Then I went to see another doctor and he prescribed Elidel and it worked great but then it came out with the black box warning label so I had to stop using it because once I stop for many days everything comes out again.  I went to another dermatologist and she said that I have rosecea and I started 7 days ago with a rosecea treatment.  I feel like I want to die because those little pimples on my forehead and also the dryness and burnign sensation makes me want to cut my head off.  CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE???????

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

Rosacea presents with a burning and flushing of the face. This may present in stages. The mild forms may be treated with oral antibiotics. The cause of rosacea is multifactorial. It may be due to genetics, environment and even hormones. Anything that may cause vasodilation of facial vessels such as extreme changes in temperatures, food, excesssive emotions, skin products , dust and exercises may lead to a flushing and burning sensation due to increase in blood flow.

Pulse dye laser has been used to treat rosacea. A newer mode of therapy called Photoderm is used to target the superficial and deeper vessels to alleviate the flushing. Topical medications containing Vitamin A and Zinc have been used. You may discuss with your physician the benefits of these forms of therapy.

sounds like I have the same problem but I can't figure out any singular event that triggered the redness in my face. about 3 mo after giving birth to my first child, I'm 33, I developed the condition. It seemed like overnight that my skin just changed forever. It's been six months and I have found nothing that gives me relief. I have been to two derms with no success.I have taken light to heavy cortisteroids that would only give me temp relief at the cost of thinning out my skin. I have stopped using them altogether. I am going to the derm to see if I can get some anti-inflams to control my flare ups. I will ask about rosacea but I don't think I have that. I don't have any pimple like bumps on my face just redness. The condition is almost persistent and also has spread to my hands. I feel your pain. I know the burning feeling even with products that are suppose to help. I am starting to feel my self-esteem erode. I do find going to different blogs and forums help me put things into perspective. It does seem like there are people out there trying to cope with similar problem. I have yet to come across a success story but then again most people who post are current sufferers.

Good Luck!
