Hello,
In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups.
Treatment includes avoidance of the allergen, oral antihistaminics; topical application of corticosteroids. You may try application of calamine on the affected site. It may work by soothing the skin.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
I have bad eczema as well. The only thing i have found to work is a prescription from the doctor. Most come in generics. They do have a hydrocortizone that is a prescription that is a little stronger. I know that most of the prescriptions contain steroids, but they are they only thing that works for me. I also only use tide or a fragrance free detergent. I only use oil of olay face cream. The only soap i will use is Dove (including washing makeup off my face). I avoid any lotions with extra fragrence in them such as lavendar or jasmine. Avoid hot tubs as well, some of the chemicals in hot tubs can be extremely irritating to people with eczema! My mom used baby oil on me as a kid so that may help for youor kids. Avoiding anything with strong scents has decreased my need for medication drastically. The best thing i can say is to visit a dermatoligist. They will be able to give you suggestions as well.
