dearr   G....H.

ii     read youur post today about your trial with loss of your loved nursing job and beinnng confronted with disabilty
I   am really sorry you are there at this place.

Even thiough it was not a professipn   ii loved, when I could not woork, it was such a change  in my life that wass hard to accept.
I am nnnot really aware from the u.k. and your laws, but i will hope you are heard and understood.
I was incredably fortunate in that our system took me 2 1/2 months only to be deemed disabled....extremely rare here. A t the time my  neuros worte I have probable msa-c and m.s.. I have no idea if that was the factor, but it has allowed me coverage of medicare. ( i do not know if that has been what i sould have done or not)

i just want to tell you, i hope you know , you are valued and no less than  before you become ill. Do not let this dession change your confience in yourself.

please keep us posted what happens. we are with you

Thank you so very much for your support and kind words :-)

Yeah, loosing your work through ill health is hard to accept and is quite frightening - but I will remember your words of wisdom about not feeling less important and keep confident in myself :-)

Indeed you were fortunate with such a quick decision about your disability - My case worker seems very competent, and she is full of enthusiasm.
So I think I'm in good hands :-)

I am grateful to this forum for having given me the chance to meet such wonderful people!

:-)

I have not  been on this site for awhile and just read a response to you.
I too was devastated by not only the loss of my health but to not be able to work at a profession that i loved. It has been 16 years and not a day goes by that I don't miss it. Although Nusing today isn't what it was; I am an old Diploma nurse. I  worked 25 yrs at Med Surg and the last 5 in Oncology. Little did I think I would use my own knowledge on myself. Me with a Hickman, not in a million years but Life is what happens when you are making other plans.
It gets a  easier but your loss will always be there. Once a Nurse always a nurse.
I wish you the best.
