ENDO

Hi, I have been having this pain that feels like period cramps so i go to the gyna and get tested and through an ultra sound we discover that it is endometriosis. My gyna said we can look at treating it with a medication called Vissane and there may be various side effects but not sure how it would work on me. I really would want know if there is any alternative treatment before I go forward with pills, please advise anyone?

Visanne is used to mask the disease just like any other form of HRT.

I would find yourself an Endometriosis Specialist because the only way to definitively diagnose is through laparscopy and biopsy. If there is an Endometrioma (Blood filled cyst) present that is an indicator of moderate to severe disease and you do not want a regular gyno operating on you.

The gold standard is "excision" which is to cut out the disease from the root and most gyno's don't have the skill, tools or knowledge to do this type of complex surgery.

I can help you out in finding someone if you let me know where you live.

If this surgery is done you have an 80% chance of less pain in the future and some even have 100%. Everyone is different.

In my honest opinion I would not take any medication unless you have a diagnoses from a biopsy. I am wondering how they could tell you had endo if it can't be seen on an ultrasound. The only thing they could have seen is free fluid or endometrioma which are indicators. Is this what was seen?

Hey,

I was in the same boat as you (with the ultra sound) but the only way to confirm endo is with a laparoscopy. I was found to have chronic endo and my gyne gave my Vissane to keep it at bay. I only lasted 3 months on it as it made me super nauseas and so so sad! And I had constant pain and cramps. I would have a laparoscopy to check and/or have your endo removed before you start taking Vissane. Even then, I wouldn't recommend it.

My new gyne put me on a new pill called Qlaira and I've have very little pain since. It mimics your natural cycle so has very little side effects!

Hope this helps :) and good luck!
