I am also newley diagnosed with endometriosis... I dont know what to do right now... Im so frustrated... I have been in sooooooooooooooooooooo much pain for a year... and it just kept getting worse until my doctor decided I was in enough pain to do surgery and found cysts all over and my right ovary was stuck in a pocket... I dont know how to explain it... sorry... my dr. told me that I had cysts on a nerve and thats why Im in soooooooooooooooo much pain... so I was then put on the lupron shot once a month for 6 months... well... it was working GREAT until last month... then the pain came back and Im back on the couch in pain not being able to move or do anything except for laying there with a heating pad... I went back into my obgyn and she told me that there was nothing else she could do for me that I needed to go see a endocronologist (sp?) so I go on monday... and Im just worried that nothing is going to make this pain go away so I can live a "normal" life... have any of you dealt with this?? oh and I have taken pain meds and it doesnt even touch the pain... :( I just need HELP!!! if anyone has had this please let me know Im not alone... :(
Hi there. I had an endometrioma, a cyst that comes from endometriosis, and at the beginning based on transvaginal ultrasounds they thought it was cancer because there appeared to be a thin wall dividing it. They ran the CA - 125 marked and it was very elevated. My regular doctor, an oncologist, told me it was cancer and that he had to remove everything and I was shocked since I am only 38 and I have no kids. That made me search on the Internet and I talk to several doctors, until I found an OB/GYN who was also worried about my fertility.
To make the long story short, he told me I needed surgery ASAP and I was operated last December, and there was no cancer and what I had was an endometrioma and the doctor was able to remove adhesions and did washings. Then I was given the 3-month Lupron shot to treat endometriosis and fertility. Six months after, there are no signs of a cyst or adhesions and I feel pretty well. The doctor is amazed at me being so well after the mess he found.
Now, he told me to start trying to have kids ASAP due to my age and the fact that I had an endometrioma. As far as I know, the only way to diagnose endometriosis is by surgery, laparoscopy or laparotomy, and Lupron helps control the endometriosis and helps improve the fertility.
Lupron takes you into a medical menopause and you could suffer hot flashes, headaches, vaginal dryness, etc. and not every woman reacts the same the way. For me, it wasn't really a problem and now I only suffer from a little headache in the evening and minimum hot flashes, but in general I feel OK.
Hope this info helps and good luck.
