I am not fit. I am 30lbs over weight. I cant exercise. Everytime i do, i get pinkish-red discharge. I was awake for the c-section, they gave me a spinal block. Were you aloud to walk or drive after??
sorry- i have never given birth or had a c-section, so I cant compare. honestly tho, the pain wasn't that much of a problem for me- I didn't feel 'real' pain apart form the trapped gas under my rib-cage- that was horrible while it lasted. But the biggest problem for me was the general crappiness form the anesthetic (I think) and overall fatigue. also as far as I remember they tell you not to lift anything heavy for a week- until you have the stitches out.
I was told by my doc I would be back to work by monday too- but I would not have been able to do it. I'm pretty fit and strong, but this was my first surgery, so that might have made me more of a wuss! I think if you prepare for the worst, then hopefully it won't be that bad and you will be over the moon.
My doctor plans to treat the endometriosis if he finds any. I was in labor for 8hrs with petocin and no pain medication, then ended up having a c-section. Never took pain medicine after. Could the pain be like that?? I am a member in the ovarian cyst forum. I will try to get someone to come and help me with my kid, but my family isnt the type you can lean on. Thanks.
I've had 4 laps done for endometriosis and each time my doc always says "have it on a friday back to work on monday". HA! Not me! I need a full week off before I feel sort of normal. However, I worked with a gal who had one done and was back at work monday. She had a desk job but I was amazed.
Have you had any other surgery? If so, that should give you an idea.
recovery form a laparascopy depends on the person. you would definately not be advised to lift your kid for a week I would say. I had work doen rather than just a 'look' - has you doc said whether he would just diagnose endo - or treat what he finds if there is any there? - this is important as if they remova an ovary it might affect recovery time.
I was basically sore and walked like an 80 year old for about three days- then much better, but still had to take it easy- more from tiredness than pain. If you have no help for your recovery, you may have to try to plan ahead as much as possible- prepare easy microwave food - have all cleaning and laundry done etc.
there is a great post about laps on the ovarian cyst forum as a lot of ladies have them doen for that.
best wishes
