Just need to vent

Basically I'm just tired of being sick and missing out on life and wanted to do a little venting. I had mono & untreated hypothyroidism for 3 years beginning when I was 19 and missed out on so much and then I got better for a while and now after only a few short years of being well I'm sick again and it's been almost a year 1/2 of this. I know I have reactivated EBV, hypothyroidism that won't respond to ANY amount or type of thyroid medication and I just don't know where else to turn. I know something else has to be going on that we haven't uncovered yet but after seeing almost 20 doctors since 2001 I don't even know anymore. How can one person gain 50+ pounds in only 3 months while running 4 miles a day and eating perfect? I can't even wear my wedding ring anymore because of the puffiness. How can my hair go from stick straight to falling out in handfuls to now wavy?  I'm tired and depressed and just want to get back to living again. Sorry for the pathetic whining but it's been so long and I don't even know anymore and all I want is to get better.

Your symptoms sound exactly like mine!  I have had the quick 50# weight gain and loss, the straight, falling out & wavy hair thing now!  Also the puffiness too!  If you find anything out, let me know!

A good endocrinologist is hard to find sometimes.  I would recommend do research to find a well-known and sought out endocrinologist in your region and get on his wait list!  An endo can check out all of your other hormones too.

I drive over 100 miles to Philadelphia at University of Penn to see my endo.  He is #1 in his field.  I had 2 other endos before him who didn't help me nearly as much.  Keep going to docs until you find the right one, don't give up.

I highly recommend checking out MedHelp's fibro/CFS forum. I am one of the Co-CL's in the forum. We have tons of information about Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (ruling it out... treating, etc.).

Hi...
I just read your post and have to say that I find this very interesting. My husband Dennis Had mono when he was 17...this was many years ago. ......43 years ago infact!

Then Deenis got mono again in 2005....Then the epstein barr started up again in 2007....and then just a couple months ago he statrted the same thing over....Went to the dr and then to the infectious disease dr. The bllod work showed that he again has active epstein barr....imagine that!!!  HE would love to talk to you and maybe the two of you could atleast be some support one to another......He is tired alot, has had repeated blisters in his mouth and vomiting and alot of other issues......

Just a quick question ...have you been tested for CMV? Cytomeglavirus?  Symptoms are like mono, but can have a much worse effect...... Dennis' e-mail address is ***@**** you are interested in talking to someone who understands the nightmare in this....email him!!! He would like to talk!!
