prophylactic treatment of laser for lattice for high myopia

Dear Doctor, Generally does prophylactic treatment of laser for lattice for high myopia cause any problem in any other area of retina? Or its a safe alternative and generally a person can get weak areas/lattice sealed without any problem arising out of the prophylactic treatment. Thanks.

Lattice occurs in 5-8% of people more in myopes. I have lattice in both eyes. Most lattice does not require treatment. Retina specialists often disagree when treatment is indicated.  While treatment is low risk it is not no risk. Risks include failure to seal lattice, failure to prevent RD, swelling of the macula, and light reflexes porjected 180 degree opposite of where the laser was done. Don't feel bad if you want to get second opinion. My lattice has never been treated.
