Hi everyone, I'm a first time poster.
Yesterday I was visiting an eye clinic for several other vision problems I've been having, however this one has grabbed my attention mostly because I cant seem to find much info on it. I was in the exam room after they checked my vision to prescribe me glasses, they had also just checked my eye pressure which was normal. I have astigmatism and haven't been for a checkup in 10 years, something they made a point of letting me know was a bad idea.
On the TV screen in the front of the room they had a hollow circle with a part missing at the bottom, something I learned was a visual acuity chart for illiterate people. While I was sitting down I happened to notice in the upper left part of my vision near the center in my right eye, a sharp round dot had appeared. This was after several basic exams I don't really know the names of. This dot was very defined and surrounded by a white aura or halo which was substantial enough to interfere with the black circular pattern shown on the screen. I mentioned it to the doctor however she wrote it down but didn't say much about it. I thought at the time it might have been due to eye strain from one of the tests, however it's persisting. The doctor said my eye pressure was fine, she checked my eyes with an ophthalmoscope, but other than that nothing else was done, it was a very basic eye clinic.
After the consultation my right eye was noticeably more strained and sore in the front than my left eye was (my right eye is my stronger eye). I didn't think much of it but after sleeping, I woke up to notice an after image effect of the spot was in my vision, as if someone had shone a bright light into my eye, but it was stationary and didn't move the same way as a floater or the typical after-image effects you get after looking into a bright light.
Not long after my eyes adjusted it became harder to see, however I could see it noticeably if I went outside and looked at street lights in the distance. It appeared as a small-ish dot with a white aura, just as it did at the clinic, but slightly smaller. I created some graphics to re-create the same image I saw at the clinic, and I can see it there. It's now been 24 hours and if I close my eyes for about 10 minutes and open them, I see the after image effect of it. If I go outside and look at the sky (its overcast) I don't see it, it seems to only appear around bright lights at a distance or contrasted images when I sit far back.
The spot seems to only occur in the upper left part of my vision near the center, it seems to be mostly stationary but never moves much from that place although it seems to dance around. I do have eye floaters, and this is nothing like that.
I've included a link to a picture which I photoshopped to the best of my ability the symptoms I'm seeing. Although the dot in reality is much smaller, it's impossible for me to convey a sense of scale, also at this size it more properly shows what I'm seeing. It's not 100% accurate but it's my best and I hope it helps. https://i.imgur.com/M7S65j7.jpg
Thanks in advance for any help, sorry about the long post.
