Eye Floaters and neurological conditions ::

Hi everyone,

PLEASE READ THIS FULLY WITH PATIENCE AND HELP ME.

I am new to medhelp. I am 21 years old from Mumbai. I am suffering from eye floaters from over 8 months. But recently i found them increased suddenly and my eyes started paining. I had consulted an opthamologist and he said everything was fine and he said to meet a neurologist.

Do you know of any neurological conditions that are associated with eye floaters?

Now i am very panic and can't able to concentrate on my studies and anything. I surfed on internet and came to know that there is no treatment for floaters. It is very hard to hear.

What is the reason for floaters in young age ?

I had a light fever 8 months back, i went to a local doctor who is not experienced. He treated me with severe malarial antibiotics for 6 days assuming that i had malaria. Later i felt severe side effects like body pains, headache, eye redness, severe joint pains, digestive problems etc. for about 6 weeks. AT THAT TIME ONLY I FIRST SAW SOME FLOATERS IN MY LEFT EYE

I think whether this might be the cause for my floaters.

What is your opinion? Is this the cause?

Please read this fully and help me getting out of panic. My parents have lot of hopes on me to get well settled but i cant able to fulfill that because of this floaters annoyance.

Thanking you in advance,
JONY123.

I just posted but didnt seem to work... again

If your floaters came abruptly and there are many and in both eyes you likely have an underlying cause and the pseudo intellectual explanation that 'everyone has that' is evidently insufficient.

I woke up one day in Vietnam and had hundreds of huge floaters in both my eyes and blurred vision.  My retina is 'normal'

Based on how you responded to antimalarials you may have an active infection.  Research and get tested for the following:

Toxoplasmosis
Bartonella
Lyme/more coinfectioa
Malaria

Toxoplasma responds to anti malarials.  Have you any exposure to cats or cat feces?

For lyme the normal blood tests can have 65-80% false negative so spend some money and grt tested with ispot lyme or igenex.  Btw these all have neurological symptoms as well

Light sensitivity
Sound sensitivity
Paranoia
Anxiety
Panic attacks
Tremors
Even mild hallucinations

if you had a fluoroquinolone antibiotic they can sometimes cause floaters.  Read about it on the internet.  There are thousands of people that have been damaged by these antibiotics.

Floaters aren't a big deal to doctors, but they are very annoying and can ruin your day to day lifestyle.

Thank you very much for your reply.

My question is " will the floaters occur because of the excessive usage of malarial antibiotics without having malaria ? "

I used severe dosage of malarial antibiotics for 6 days before 8 months.

Please understand my issue and reply me please.

I will pray for you. please reply me.

You have asked this question before and the answer hasn't changed:

1. Floaters occur in young people.
2. Therre is no cure for the common floater.
3. Since you are worrying up a storm either get a second opinion or go back to the Eye MD ophthalmologist for a discussion.
4  Floaters do not signal neurological disease
5. Malaria and maliria medicines do not close floaters
6. I started having floaaters at age 8
