For a month I have been fighting with this bacteria - Staphylococcus epidermis MRCNS which I got after doing iontophoresis sessions to relieve my floaters.
It seems to be resistant to all antibiotics - penicilin, methicilin, all aminoglycosides. The culture taken revealed some moderate resistance to Ciprofloxacinum.
The eyes are red, painful and I have been prescribed Levofloxacinum but it has brought very little improvement. The eye is perhaps less sore but it is still not cured.
The ophtalmologist prescribed only cleaning drops now but obviously that does not help with reducing the redness and soreness of eyes.
I don't know what to do, nothing seems to work and it is a great bother combined with a large amount of floaters that I suffer from.
I have also researched the subject a little bit and I have found that vancomycine is the medication that very often this bacteria does not show resistance to. However, it is written that is is applied only as a last resort medication in life-threatening situations and is injected rather than used topically so doctors are not willing to prescribe it.
Could you please advise me in this matter, I am so desperate, I would like so much to see this organism gone from my eyes.
