6 to 8 months is pretty conservative, it must be because of the late date of the loss.  I am sure sorry this happened to you.

My doctor told me two wait two cycles when I had an early miscarriage.  But I would not point a finger at a woman who tried again after she had had one totally normal, full and natural period, if the miscarriage was as early as you are describing (5th week).

What you definitely need is the indicator that your uterus is back to normal, and the best signal for that is your period, and it being a normal period.

My male doctor said I could start right away. But one of my female doctors said to wait 3 months.. I'm not pregnant yet and this is my 3rd month.  My cousin miscarried and it took her 3 months to get pregnant again..  she has had her baby now

I miscarried on the 18th. My doctor said to wait at least two months so that my hormones and cycle are back on track, but I've looked all over online forums and such saying that it is a personal preference. My doctor said that by waiting, it will give the uterus time to heal and when I became pregnant again, they would have a date to go off of (last menstrual cycle).
