dull pain months after diverticulitis flare-up?

I have been hospitalized twice this year with diverticulitis.
I am a 48 year-old active, healthy female with no other medical problems.
I take fiber pills every day and have always had a very healthy diet.
I still (3 months later) feel a constant dull ache where the diverticulitis flare-up was - lower left abdomen.
Is this normal?  Is this something I just have to adjust to with this disease?
My doctor says no, and is going to schedule another CT scan.  It will be my 4th one since May.
I've had ovarian cysts on my left ovary that come and go and my ob/gyn said they are due to ovulation
and are so small he doesn't believe that would be causing pain.
Thank you

I'm having same problem.  Hi. I k ow this is old but I'm still having twinges 10 weeks after.  I had a colonoscopy at 4 weeks out and still had Inflamation  and went back on antibiotics.  I had another Ct at 6 weeks that showed nothing but still twinges off and on I guess when the bm is moving through lower left side.   Did you ever get an answer. Thanks

i am a otherwise healthy 52yo woman. I had 6 DV flares last year (this increased yearly), and am ready for the surgery! you may have a hidden infection. not all flares, including bad flares, have fever and high blood counts. CT with contrast (drink and injection) should tell your doc if you have fat-stranding and other signs of infection. diverticulitis is sneaky. keep to  low-residue diet in the meantime, use clear liquids when you need to. finish all your meds all the time, and feel better soon! PS i found low potassium this last hospitalzation, which was agrivating constipation. have your doc check your potasium (K) and magnesium (Mg), too. i feel much better now that she straightened tht out (sleep better, no muscle cramps, no constipation...) good luck.

Do you eat alot of foods with seeds?  It may be possible that one has gotten lodged in the tiny pockets of the diverticuli or that the antibiotic that you were on for the diverticulitis has caused another rather hard to get rid of infection in your bowel called C-difficile.  You may want to check with your dr. to see if maybe this can be the cause I was hospitalized from early January '06 to mid summer of the same year and treated extensively with antibiotics to rid my body of it, before they could do surgery to finally help me.
