After stomach surgery

My wife is 61. 14 years ago she had 6 inches of the exit to her stomach removed due to ulsers not treated over years.   Her health improved for several years.  But the last 6 years .  No matter what the diet.  And after seeing many doctors .  She has stomach illness and or intestinal pain with loose bowel movements.  This condition controls more than half of her day to day life.  All the doctors say that this a result of the surgery.  And there is nothing that can be done. Is there any other direction she could take .  Trying to improve this problem?

Yes the pyloric sphincter was removed . As far as I understand .  The intestines were hooked back up to the bottom of the stomach.

Mike, do you know what portion - exactly - was removed during the surgery? And was the pyloric sphincter removed, too? That's the valve at the end of the stomach into the intestine. If it was removed, how was the duodenum 'hooked back up' to the stomach. All of the different permutations of rearranging the GI tract can have different outcomes.
