Anyone else suffer from Gastritis?

Hi.  I was diagnosed with gastritis a month ago, after an endocscopy.  The gi took a biopsy but h pylori neg.  I am taking Prevacid and Carafate but suffering.  I experience fullness, nausea and burning not all at the same time.  I have also been trying some home remedies I looked up on the net., i.e. coconut water and milk and chamomile tea.  I would love to hear some other things that have helped people.  I also suffer from depression and anxiety so am also on meds for those.  I am feeling frustrated as I had been hoping that it was h pylori so I could take the antibiotics and clear it up.  That is what happened to hubby.  Thanks for any feed back.

Thanks so much for the good feedback.  Cal:  I need to check out that website because he didn't discuss diet with me.  I like coffee, for example, and am trying to cut back.  I eat yogurt daily as well as ice cream.  Just to name a few.  I had Mexican, over the weekend, and was sick as a dog all day!  Ayri:  I put honey in my tea but never thought about taking it straight.  I never heard that it can rejuevenute tissue growth.  I do not take aspirin or Motrin and rarely Tylenol, as having sufffered from GERD for so long, I know that they cause me problems.  I had surgery a year ago and was on pain meds but also was taking Motrin up until about 2 months ago.  That may have caused this.  Also, I did not know that it can take so long to heal! God bless all.

hi sue, in the majority of gastritis cases, medication like proton pump inhibitors seem to heal the stomach linning in three to six months with 40mg tablet once a day.also gastritis can be the main cause of your depression and anxiety, one home remedy to try is one teaspoon of pure honey either in the morning or before bedtime, the honey is known to rejuvenate tissue growth, therefore giving you a new stomach linning,,try keeping away from asprins and similar drugs, if you have to take them then take only those that are coated, they are more gentle to the stomach. God bless.

Gastritis and GERD can go hand-in-hand. If you're doc saw irritation in the stomach then it's gastritis and it can cause all the symptoms you're describing. But it sounds like your doc didn't discuss diet with you. There's a whole list of 'do' and 'don't' foods - some are more acid provoking than others, so it might be a good idea to see if your current diet doesn't have a whole lot of those 'don'ts.' Dairy, for example is a don't unless it's very low fat. Fatty foods, in general, are another no-no. You can find some suggestions on gicare.com as well as on other sites.

Also, try eating smaller meals several times a day instead fo 3 regular ones. It may help.

Also keep in mind that not all meds work for each individual. So if after a bit more trying you find you still are in pain, talk to your doc and discuss either a change in dosage or a change in medication. Don't let the doc tell you all the meds are all alike, they're not.

Thanks.  I also have Gerd and have since the mid 90's.  I read some where that they can go hand in hand.  My gi is the one who called it gastritis after biopsying during the endoscopy.

doesnt sound like gasteritis to me,i have had that, and you dont want it.
sounds like possible side effects to the meds you are on,or combanation of two or more of them.
and this also sounds more like gerd, not gasteritis
