Fatty liver

I had most of the symptoms of diabetes so i went to the doctor and after a blood test he told me that there is a problem wit my liver. Then i had a ultrasound and CT scan and the doc said that i have an enlarged fatty liver and sterosis or something like that. What causes this? I dont drink alcohol at all or smoke or use drugs. The doc didnt give me any medication or tell me any advice or anything he just reffered me to a specialist and in have to wait months before he sees me. Can anyone offer me some advice on diet or what the problem could be?I feel its getting worse and i dont even have a proper diagnosis yet.

I'm worried that they want to perform a liver biopsy on me...do they usually do that to diagnose liver problems or they only do it in extreme cases?

I, too, have a fatty liver from my ultrasound but I was told not to worry about it.  I am type II diabetic.  I have RUQ ache throughout my right side from a colonoscopy.  I don't know what to do anymore or who to see.

I to am facing the same situation as you are.  I was recently told last week that i to have what seems to be a fatty liver.  i am a registered nurse and still i was uncertain what was going on, and my doctor has been no help.  i to will see a gastro doctor next week to see what is going on.  from all that i have read it seems to me that it is not much to worry about and the problem could be from diet and weight gain alone and that diet and exercise seem to help.  from all that i read it seems that it is a reversible situation as long as you get a work up to make sure that there is no underlaying cause of the fatty liver.  like you i do not drink or take any drugs.. a low fat diet, exercise, and weight lose seem to be the only answer i can find so far. it seems we are both in the same boat. good luck
