Food poisoning, or something else?

A great war is taking place in my gut right now, and I want to surrender.  What might be wrong?  Eight days ago I went out to eat, and ended up in the ER with a bad case of diarrhea and projectile vomiting.   Since my food is restricted to what can easily pass through my small intestine (I have an illeostomy), I checked out the menu ahead and chose this crab meat/avocado dish served with tortilla chips.  Most of what is served at this restaurant is steak.  I also had a sweet potato, which was well cooked and served with cinnamon and brown sugar mixed into butter.  Something in that meal did not set well.  With an elevated white count, and my BP too Low, I was admitted and observed until I could eat solid food without gastric upset.  I went home two days later.  I was careful and felt well the next day too. The only lingering problem was fatigue, until I ate something my stomach didn't like.  This chain of events has now become my very own circle of life.  I have not been vomiting, but my poo is abnormally watery, I am sometimes burping these foul tasting burps as well.  I've taken Tums and Gas-X as often and as much as I can, but to no avail, and it's been 9hrs, since dinner (salmon and noodles), and later, when all seemed well, I had  some applesauce and a few crackers, all of which I have eaten on a regular basis, yet my bag has been filling up with air about every 20mins.  I can't sleep, and I don't know what is causing this, so I can't cure it either,  Every morning I wake up to a bag that has popped off, One day I sprung a leak twice, and when I tried to get the wafer replaced, poo shot up like water from a fire hose!  It took a full hour to do the job that usually takes about five minutes.  Can you tell  me what I should do, and what might be the cause?

I didn't see your answer until now.  If I had, I would have thanked you for your answer earlier.  I'm lactose intolerant. It causes diareahea and makes me contested, and I have asthma, so I steer clear of yogurt, and other milk products.  I do eat cheese with no ill effect.  I take Bentyl to keep my stomach from dumping.  I don't understand how it works though.  I eat onions, garlic, and honey occasionally.  I'm over the food poisoning, but would appreciate any advice on how to make sure I get the nutrients I need.  I eat seafood and chicken as sources of protein, and take a multivitamin, fish oil, and calcium supplements daily.

Hi, the bowels are taking time to normalize post infection. As the infection and toxins are completely eliminated, the bowels should normalize. Add probiotics to your diet. Probiotics contain good bacteria and help with digestion. And Prebiotics are nondigestible carbohydrates that act as food for probiotics. Probiotics are found in foods such as yogurt, while prebiotics are found in whole grains, bananas, onions, garlic, honey and artichokes. A combination of two in a healthy diet is beneficial. Try this. Regards.
