INTESTINAL STRICTURE & BOWEL PROLAPSE

Can a stricture in my intestines be operated on at the same time as having my bowel prolapse stitched back up to where it should be? I was diagnosed with a bowl prolapse last December 2012. Since January, I've had tummy pains after eating. I had a balloon dilation of a stricture in sigmoid colon in 2010. It is suspected it may have returned. Can these 2 operations be performed at the same time, to fix both of these troublesome bowel problems? I have terrible tummy pain after eating solids and can only drink soups made with bones, for the marrow and it's nutritional properties. I am very weak and have lost nearly 15 kilos since January from lack of food.

Hi there!

Though the two surgeries could be performed in the same sitting, these would be two completely different procedures requiring two completely different approaches. I would suggest discussing the situation and the possibility in detail with your treating doctor.
Hope the information is helpful.

Take care!

Thank you for replying. Yes, I'll be finally seeing my Colorectal Surgeon in 2 days and hope he can operate soon, as bowel prolapse is getting worse, even though I do pelvic floor exercises. Thanks for enlightening me, as my bowel surgeons don't give me any clue.
