augmentin for bowel abcess

I have severe diverticulits and history of bowel abcess. I started having a diverticulitis flareup about 3 weeks ago with on and off symptoms for about 2 weeks. Becaause of my history of bowel abcess and the fact the symptoms became more constant I was prescribed Augmentin. Now 2 days in I have diarrhea. Should I discontinue the augmentin? If not, what is the best way to treatthe diarrhea?  (my belly pain had started to get much better but now with the diarrhea it is back)
