Need Help

Ok, this is embarassing and hard for me to discuss openly in a forum. However, I'm at a point where i need some advice. For the past 3 days, I've been experiencing black stools. I'm totally freaked over it. I know that the cause could be bleeding in the upper GI. Thursday, it was diarrhea. Yesterday and today, no diarrhea but still black (or very close to black).

Today, I called my doctor to see if i could get in. There are no doctors in the office. My question is whether this is a problem that I should let slide till monday, or if I should make the trip to the ER. Thanks any help in advance.

as a follow up to anyone who may read this in the future...the cause was an ulcer in my stomach due to the use of excedrin every day for headaches. i have to discontinue NSAIDS and take prilosec for 60 days and i should be fine.

i found a lot of posts about this type of thing and never saw any follow up to the cause, so i thought i'd put mine on here, just in case someone else finds this and wants to know.
