Pain in Rib and Back Right Hand Side

I have had pain in my rib right hand side just below the breast which radiants sometimes around to my back.  It is not through an accident and from when it started a few months ago from being on and off, it now seems to be more constant. I am forever pushing on this dull pain and it is really getting me down.  If I wake in the night and I have been sleeping on my right hand side, the pain can keep me awake for a while as I have to turn over or lay on my back until it subsides.

I have been to the Dr's a few times and they just tell me that a previous scan for my ovaries shows that there is nothing showing which is of any concern (I had a CT scan on my abdomen and Chest in April this year).  I have had a gall bladder scan a few times (the last about 18 months ago which I was told at the time all looked fine).

I had Bowel Cancer nearly 8 years ago now and I know that I do worry more about pain etc.. than I used to do.. and the Dr always asks me if I am worrying that it has come back.  So to me they just think it is in my mind.  They always look back on my notes and tell me when I last had a scan for this and that (like I dont know myself ) My last Colonosotophy (sorry for spelling error) was in October 2009 which was all ok.

I am at my wits end to what this pain is and to what I can do.  I dont take any pills as I try not to take anything that is un-necessary.

Does anybody out there have the same problem or think of anything I could try.

thank you in advance.

Totti....I have what you have I think.

Mine started when I was pregnant with twins. I thought it would go away and it didn't. I asked the Dr. about it and he didn't know anything about it....probably pregnancy discomfort. Then I thought maybe it's hormonal b/c it was still there after birth. I thought maybe when I stop breastfeeding. I breast fed for just 4months total and stopped breasting  about 3.5months ago and I still have this random mild, but annoying pain. It comes if I lay on my right side. It feels better if I push on that spot. It's like in my ribs, unilateral right side, kind of under armpit and to the back, but it starting more in the front 9months ago.

What is it? It can't be shingles right? I DID have chicken pox when I was little, but I thought shingles hurt like crazy and you had a rash...I have no rash. I've had this for almost 10months now.

I have a stomach ulcer, but other then that I'm healthy, great BMI, 30 year old female. I'm trying not to be a hypochondriac, but this isn't any cancer right??? My Grandma just died of cancer and a friend of mine, only 35 was diagnosed with breast cancer, so you start questioning things....

If it's supposed to stop after "months" why do I still have it? freaky.

It sounds like shingles, except then there would be painful blisters too.  Next thought is costochondritis, which is inflammation of the cartilage around the ribs.  It is painful, but otherwise not serious and just takes months to settle down.  I have known SEVERAL people who have been through this, even though it is supposedly rare.
