Wht won't the docotrs listen to me?

Why can't I get my doctors to understand that my colon is not working.  I tell them how food simply does not go past a certain area in my colon and they just come back that I am constripated and need more laxatives.  I make my self have a bowel movemebt every 7 days (with lots of suppositories and enemas) and litteraly pushing everything out of  my colon down to my rectum.  I don't know how long it would be if I just let it go.  I am having the sitz tets now.  I need some one to listen to me!!!

Hi kk,
I'm sorry to hear of your problems.  I have bowel problems too.  My 1st question is, of course, have you seen a gastroenterologist yet.  My next is, how long have you been using laxatives and enemas? If those things are over used...your colon could become void of the good bacteria and enzymes needed to properly breakdown and propel the stool down and out.
You don't mention your age, sex or any history of illnesses. I am left to assume many things.
I have diverticulosis. I also have Sjogrens syndrome... I have told my doctor many times, that it feels like my descending colon (the last part of the colon before reaching the rectum) is paralyzed. It seems like the stool isn't being moved along like it should be.  I have to take MiraLax every other night. This is not recommended as a regular softener.  LOTS of fiber and drinking WARM water is very helpful.
You really should request an appointment to see a gastro specialist.  Something needs to be changed....the way you are relieving yourself, the infrequent BM's, and your diet.
If you practice anal sex...please discontinue, as this can cause extremely serious problems.
Insist this appointment with your doctor.  A bowel obstruction or chronic, long term constipation is a cause for great concern.
You are your own healthcare advocate...its YOUR health, not the doctors, and you have to make them HEAR you. If they are still acting deaf...find a new doc or go to the emergency room (not using your method of relieving yourself before going). There has to be the obvious issue present so they can determine what the problem is.
I hope you get some answers and the medical attention you need. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Your situation sounds very uncomfortable and serious.
Best wishes to you.
