Please take your wife to a more qualified Gastroenterologist to reassure you both that everything is okay.  This man had no business doing this surgery and you need someone with a lot of experience to advise you.  It sounds like your wife had a duodenal ulcer, and one in the small intestine, which would have required part of her small intestine be removed not just the stomach. I would seek a second or even third opinion on this. Good luck and take care.

I had my bottom 1/3 of my stomach removed June 2008 and I ended up with all kinds of complications.  I also had intractable ulcers. The result of the surgery has caused severe dumping syndrom which includes diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, pain, dizziness from low blood sugar and loss of weight, severe.  I was 175, needed to lose, down now to 90 pounds and can't keep weight on even with my J-tube.  Try to go on a diet with out the sugars, high carb, similar to the diabetic diet, eat 5-6 times a day small amounts.  It helps linda
