Chicken Pox

Hello there, I am 19 this year and i am on my 6th day of chicken pox. This outbreak is bad! Its everywhere on my face. A few blisters on my scalp burst already, but the others are not dried/burst yet. Instead, some of them are like hard on the outside and a lil smaller.. Does that mean they are drying up? The blister formed on the first day is on that condition. I got infection for a few blisters on my face even i did not scratch it. Those infected spots are not itchy or painful at all even if i touch it gently. My doc said its normal because it stayed too long thats why it got infected but it will not scar as long as i don't scratch it. Is it true? But I've went through a few websites say that it'll leave pock mark even if the blister is not scratched.

Ps:// I woke up one day and found a wound on my face ( which i dint know it was a chic pox, i tot it was a stress breakout so i gave no 2nd thought since I've had chic pox when i was young ) I washed my face as usual twice a day even though it stings when it touched water. That is the biggest infected blister im having on my face now. Does this relate to the rest of the infections on my face?

Chicken Pox afflict single cells which were destroyed, but it does not lead to scarring. It heals completely without any complications when the blister keeps intact until the crust falls off.

Scars can only develop when wounds caused by scratching get infected by agressive pyogenic bacteria (streptococci, staphylococci). These germs do not only attack single cells like the the virus causing the Chicken Pox (Varicella zoster). Instead, they attack the whole epithelial tissue. The body reacts with an inflammatory reaction which is responsible for redness, heat, swelling and pain.

The epithelial tissue consists of keratinocytes. When they get destroyed, the body tries to close the wound quickly. Instead of building new keratinocytes, the body uses connective tissue cells (fibriblasts) having their origin in deeper layers of skin. Those cells are responsible for scar tissue.

You may use thick zinc oinment to accelerate desiccation of the blisters. Keeping the ointment in the fridge can help sooting the itching. I wish you to get well soon. :o)

Poor you! What a horrible thing to have at your age. Unfortunately the outcome is varied whatever you do. (except try not to scratch)
Try not to upset yourself, and remember you are in an  enlightened age. There are various treatments around to make your skin smooth as silk.

Oh ya forgot to add : I read online, according to the websites, scars are left not because of the scratching, its the severity of the infection.. I am so worried that my face will be filled with dents! - alicia2828
