Diet issues

For a year or so i have had a terrible diet of mostly junk food and a relatively sedentary lifestyle.  As a result of this i am now 4 stone overweight and always feeling tired and sluggish.  Since last week i have joined my local gym and cut out junk food and sugar as much as i possibly can.  I have reduced my calorie intake to about 1300 a day but i am feeling very ill and weak.  What is the reason for this?

He says he has no idea what it could be so he wants to repeat the tests. He's not prescribed me anything.

Elevated inflammatory markers could mean something other than an infection.  What kind of "infection" does he think you have?  Did he prescribe anything?

All your other bloodwork ok?

Dunno!

But get on to the antibiotic the doc gives you and you will feel better the very next day. Stay on the tablets until they are all gone though. You will be thinner and fitter than ever before soon.

All the best!

I am not so sure about the pregnancy possibility, but have the blood test to rule this out.  You are getting the labs friday, correct?  Well, that is not so far away.

Yes, please stay out of the saunas until you figure out what is going on.

I've only had 2 saunas since i started feeling ill, and only really short ones no more than 20 mins. Have now stopped them altogether until i feel better/know whats wrong with me.

Everyone at my work is telling me my symptoms sound like i'm pregnant?!? I've taken 3 home tests (just cheap ones) and they have all been negative, but one of my workmates said she had several negative tests even when she was pregnant?!?  The doctor is testing for this when i have my blood tests but thats ages away! Could it be this? i wish!!!! lol...

How much are you drinking? Maybe, because of the sauna's you have upset your electrolites
Drink more water and take one glass of electrolite solution. It made such a difference to me.

Well, that is in a couple of days.  I am thinking this is your blood sugar.  I wouldn't return back to your old diet of junk to relieve this.  If you feel shaking, dizzy, etc. eat or drink something with sugar, i.e. orange juice, piece of chocolate then eat a protein such as a cheese sandwich, peanut butter cracker, yogurt with nuts, etc.

KEEP YOU CALORIES UP.  I would recommend 1300-1400/day until you see your physician.

Sounds like something going on with your blood sugars or your very anemic or both; not sure.  The CMP panel is a lab which includes checking the glucose level.  Have the labs above checked.

When do you see the doctor?  Please seek emergent care if your situation gets worse.

My grandmother has diabetes.

I've upped my calorie intake to 1200 which i'm trying to reach every day.  I've even tried re-introducing small amounts of sugar to see if it was withdrawal from sugar causing my illness but it hasn't worked.  I feel sick often now.  The other night i couldn't stop shaking, was seriously dizzy and sick.  I had a chocolate biscuit and i felt slightly better (?????)

Took 2 more pregnancy tests today and both were clearly negative so i know its not that. I've also been taking iron tablets too but not making any difference. :(

I think that is the best thing.  You should not be feeling that lousy at this point.  Have him/her run basic labs, i.e. blood sugar.  Are you still eating less than 1000/day?  In any case, something is not correct/right.

Labs to check:  CBC with/diff
                        CMP
                        Iron/Ferritin
                        Thyroid Panel

Are there any medical conditions that run in your family, i.e. Diabetes?

Hmmm. sounds good.  Keep those calories up over 1000.  I think 1200-1400 calories/day is good.

Yeah its not intentional dropping so low in cals, it just seems to be the way its worked out.  I'm going to make a nice ham and lentil soup- loads of veggies in it.

Its hard to believe this time 3 weeks ago i was consuming 3000 cals a day MINIMUM! and my diet was made up entirely of fat, sugar and refined carbs. lol

Oh dear, you are eating less than a 1000 calories/day?  Oh no.  Don't drop under 1200 calories/day.  The soup is good.  What kind of soup?  Using all veggies is the best soup.

Yeah i'll give it another few days and see what happens...  It could be i'm just not eating enough.  I have been keeping track of my calorie intake and i rarely exceed 1000 in a day (i used to have 3000 on an average day)

I'm going to make some homemade soup later as thats good for you? right?

Your body has to adjust to the change.  Trust me, it will pass.  Keep going.  Sometimes people do better decreasing the amount of sugar, fat, etc. slowly then too drastically.

I would also suggest having your physician run some basic labs just to make sure there is nothing else going on.

Part of me thinks i felt better before all this started and i should just quit.  The sensible part of me knows thats wrong though. Before i started this I literally lived on takeaways, macdonalds meals, cheesecakes and other sugar packed foods and drinks EVERY DAY!  I know thats not healthy but why do i feel worse now i'm eating much much healthier?! Its so frustrating...
