14 year old with chest and rib pains

I'm 14 years old and ever since around november(around 7 months ago) I've been getting reall bad rib and chest pains, they ococur around 3 times a month (somtimes more) and are causing a lot of pain and disraction for me, and around janurary I actually had a mini panic attack over it, it was horrible and never want to go back to that again. Its more of a tight ache in my ribs and feels like someones just constantly squeezeing them and the only way to ease the pain is to lay down and try to forget about it, the pain mostly lasts for around 5 hours then eases off and when its on a school day there's nothing I can do about it and it just distracts me and I can't concerentrate in any lessons. Its starting to become a real big problem for me and I just want to find out what it is. Another thing is my dad died of having a heart defect; VSD I think it was, and apparently there was a chance of me having it so could it maybe be that that is causing me this pain? Thankyou x

They will probably do ultrasound or EKG, no needles involved.
Back then, I didn't have to do a blood test but I don't know, they me need it.

Thanks so much all of you, yes my mum does know about this and we've aallways talked about going to my docter but never seem to get round to doing it because the pain goes. She's booked an appointment but I'm curious to how they would test me as I have a huge fear of needles so I would hate to have a blood test

Also have them run xrays on your back, spine, possible muscles spasms. I though I was having heart attacks, my chiropractor told me spasms. He was right. I just recently had a test done Echo with medication and the specialist told me I have a good heart. Could be panic that is also causing this. I do have  fluttering going on at night. If you are 14, you need to go to doctor, go now! What are you waiting for?

If your parent died from a hearth issue you should pay a visit to a doctor just to make sure. It's not a subject we could guess but it could be just anxiety. Chest pain leads to panic attacks especially if you don't know what cause chest pain.

When I was your age I use to have a chest pain, my mom took me to a doctor and all they could find was a little heart murmur which was caused by anemia. It wasn't a big deal and murmur disappeared with time. Chest pain stopped for some time but it always came back, so, I assume it was never caused by anemia. They just didn't know that I could suffer from anxiety. I didn't even know, I suffer from anxiety for so long I can't even remember. Now I am 30 years old, chest pain is present again, and this is actually  the first time that I know what is causing it. I realized after having a sever panic attacks. Now, the good thing is I know where I could start from...

I hope you see how much is important to have a diagnose even when it comes to anxiety. Just by understanding  what is happening to you can help a lot.

Tell your mom or whoever takes care of you.  Since this isn't just a one time thing, you definitely need to go to a doctor and get checked out, especially with a parent who died young of a heart issue.  Don't let fear hold you back.  If there is something going on, the sooner you know about it and get medical attention the better.
