Mystery symptoms - can anyone help?

I’m sharing this to see if anyone has experienced something similar. Sorry it’s a long read but hopefully someone can help!

So just to set the scene, up until the early hours of last Friday morning (when I can last remember), I felt absolutely fine.

On Saturday morning, I woke up with a bad back and put it down to sleeping funny. After rolling around restless for a bit, I decided to get up and found that getting out of bed was a struggle. My neck and back ached like I’ve never felt before - I can only compare it to a flu-like ache but much worse. I also had a bad headache and nausea. After a couple of hours, the aching felt like it was spreading down my body to my arms and legs, which began to ache as well. Soon I found it difficult to move around. I started to get a semi-numb, tingling sensation in my limbs and they felt like dead weights. I was shivering, cold all over and my finger nails and lips had started to go a pale shade of blue. This is when I realised it was serious so I woke Becky and we called 111. They advised me to go to A&E straight away.

After arriving in A&E, my nausea went off the charts and I had a temporary stabbing pain in the lower right part of my abdomen. I was also feeling extremely weak. The triage nurse hooked me up to an ECG, checked my blood pressure, took some blood (which almost made me pass out!) and topped me up with a small saline solution. She checked my muscle strength by asking me to squeeze her hands as tight as possible - I’ve never felt so weak! I was then admitted to an examination room for a few hours where I had some further tests done. The saline solution had done wonders for the nausea and I had started to regain some normal movement. My blood test came back fine and the neurologist didn’t seem alarmed, so with that, I was packed off home under strict instruction to come back if it happened again.

Over the next day, I lost the headache and regained complete movement. The past two days I’ve mainly been battling with a constant full, bloated feeling in my stomach and horrendous acid reflux first thing in the morning. I’ve lost my appetite and have to force myself to eat, after which I suffer from severe stomach cramps, gas and the rest. Even hours after eating, I still feel stuffed and my stomach always looks distended and is tender to touch.

I’ve been waiting to see if these symptoms go away before seeing my GP but I just wondered if someone could shed some light on what I might have experienced.

Thanks!
