Rabbit blood

We have a dog at my work (Assisted Living Home) who caught a rabbit in the courtyard. I wrestled the dog off the rabbit but the rabbit was too frightened to leave and I was forced to pick up the dog and carry him inside. He had gotten rabbit blood all over himself, which in turn got all over the palm of my hand as I was transferring him. Is this dangerous in any way? I washed my hands repeatedly but I am still concerned.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've had at least a hundred rabbits over the years. I've had blood from injuries to rabbit birth on me. Warm water and soap is all it takes to kill bacteria. It's like getting the blood from grocery store meat on you, you don't want to ingest it, but it won't make you sick just from touching it as long as you don't leave it on your hands to get on your food, or in your eyes.

I think your fine. As long as you washed your hands and did'nt have any cuts on them I don't see how you could have been infected with anything.
