Sores behind ears, severe ear pain.

Woke up with ear pain. Found a small open sore in the crease of Both ears. I have swollen lymph nodes behind the ear in the neck and one in the shoulder. The left ear lobe is swollen and red. I informally saw a doctor the first day this came on and he prescribed amoxicillin and antibiotic ointment. It is now the third day and I feel worse. The sores look the same, no better or worse and the swelling is the same, but the pain is significant. Sharp shooting pains in ear and base of head. I would say this was a middle ear infection but the sores are throwing me off. Today my throats also began to hurt. Please any advice would be helpful. No fevers. Just a generally feeling of sickness. 48 hours into antibiotic.
