Levothyroxine and AFib

I had my blood tested and then retested for hypothyroidism.  MY TSH was 5.6 the first time. This last test included a T3 and T4 profile.  I do not know what these last results were, but my PCP put me on 25 mcg of levothyroxine (after the results of this last test).  I had a bout with AFib last year (just the one time) and they think it was caused by anxiety. One of the side effects of the levothyroxine is irregular heartbeat. I called he doctor's office and was told by the nurse that it is highly unlikely that I would have any problems on such a small dose. Is this considered a small dose? I took the first pill today. AFib is one experience I do not want to encounter again. I have well controlled blood pressure (with metoprolol and HCTZ).  I am so anxious about this but also realize that heart problems can be caused by hypothyroidism....catch 22. Hope I get a response from this inquiry from someone.

I've been on leverithoxin for 25 yrs. I'm 53 the doctor has me on 112 Mc. It's not going so well with my blood pressure medicine. I'm always tired and weak with no energy. I have shortness of breath so now I'm seeing a cardeoligest tomarow. I'm so scared of what the doctor is going to say. I wish you luck. Keep on your doctor about your thyroid. If the dose isn't right it can make your life miserable..just saying... Been there and still there.. good luck...

From my personal experience I can tell you that 25 mcg levothyroxine is smallest dosage. I am on 50 mcg for last 8 years. I don't know if it can cause HI BP or AFib. I have high BP too. You must see a Cardiologist to determine the cause. it may be BP medicine side effect too or anxiety??? Anxiety will not cure it. You should see a doctor experienced in AFib. GOOD LUCK.
